Our values sum up the way all our people work in every single part of our business. They’re the attitudes that make us what we are. They’re at the heart of all our relationships with our customers, and with each other.
Striving to always do things better tomorrow than we did today, to be the first choice for our customers, our suppliers and for people who want a great place to work. Ultimately, we want to be leaders in what we do, we continually strive to be a winning team.
Our people are our greatest asset, and across our business we will support and develop them. We are a business where people are recognised, remembered, and respected. People are proud to work here, valued for what they do, everyone having equal opportunities to grow.
Being our customers best supplier, doing a great job for them is what makes us who we are. We build a loyal base by building strong relationships, listening to their needs, getting them what they want, exceeding their expectations. It’s as simple as that.

You can gain a qualification whilst working for us doing a role you enjoy at the same time?
At Civils & Lintels we believe the success of our company is due to our colleagues, and we think apprenticeships are a great way to learn. Our apprenticeships can be in a variety of roles, including roles in External & Internal Sales roles or other roles in Depots.
We use external providers linked to your specialism to ensure you receive fantastic training and support, in addition your line manager will support you with on the job training. At the end of your apprenticeship not only will you come out with a qualification, but the work experience too.
What better way is there to find out if a role is really for you than doing the role itself?
That’s why we offer work experience programmes across the business. We think it’s a great opportunity for you to find out everything there is to know about that role, the business, so you can make that choice of career – not to mention learning general workplace skills which will look great on your CV!
You will be partnered with one of our colleagues, so they will guide and support you through your placement, meaning you will learn off them too!

Leadership pipeline is a programme aimed at our future leaders. We ran the first cohort in early 2020. It consists of 12 monthly modules – one delivered each month over a 12 month period. Six of these are focussed on knowledge elements.
The leadership modules are focussed on the application of putting learning into practice. The modules are run by a variety of people – from our Leadership Pipeline Trainer, Jonathan to senior leaders in the business.
The overall aim of our sustainability strategy is “Building a Sustainable Future, for Everyone.” This aim is intrinsically linked to having a sustainable, value generating business model that supports and promotes progress for all of our stakeholders and underpins our purpose of Building Progress Together.
The sustainability strategy is focused on five key areas:
Customer and Product: Providing our customers with ethical, sustainable, and high-quality products.
People: Our people are at the very heart of what we do, and the success of our business is closely aligned with the contribution and commitment of each of our colleagues.
Resources: Protecting our natural resources, minimising waste, and reducing our carbon footprint are all fundamental parts of our sustainability agenda.
Community: We are proud to support a range of community and charity initiatives.
Ethics: Responsibility as a market leader to uphold high standards of ethics and integrity.

What do our team love? What keeps them engaged and motivated? Why should you follow in their footsteps?
I get excited everyday about work; you do not know what the day will bring. As a salesperson, the buzz of progressing long-term customer relationships, building trust, and winning orders ignites the flames, while learning new skills gives total satisfaction.
Everyday has different challenges! I love being a point of contact for our colleagues this gives me great satisfaction when I can answer their queries and solve problems.
One of the things that motivates me is seeing someone reach their full potential. Seeing an individual succeed through hard work and determination gives me job satisfaction. Also building an effective team; having the right people in the right roles can really transform a depot, and the performance of the region.
